today is a day I dreamed of ... all those Christmases I spent watching my family with their children and longing for my own ... and now here I am, with my baby. my gorgeous little funny baby. I know this year he is too young to know whats going on but this year the magic for me is back!
a few years ago I made us a stocking each ...
his had dark green ribbon (above) and mine the same only with dark red ... well now billy-boy is here I have made him one too ... only his is grey and cream with little polar bears on it and I love it! I hope when he grows up, he will love it too :)
it has a narrower band at the top than ours and not so much frill, but perfect for a little boy!
just hope its big enough for all Father Christmas is going to bring tonight!!

I'm not a huge keeper of cards, but I do keep some special ones but when billy-boy was born, we got given so many lovely cards and I know he will get others for his first Christmas and birthday and other times in his life, so I wanted to keep them safe.
when shopping one day I came across a box for only £1 !! a nice bargain but it was very girly, so I decided to keep my eye out for some nice wrapping paper to cover it in ... and then I found it ... the perfect paper for his woodland bedroom :)
I really love it now, and it looks lovely on the bookshelf in his room :)

today is his half birthday ... this gorgeous little boy is 6 months old today ... 6 months ago my life changed forever and I became a mama ... 6 months ago I got to meet the little one I had longed for
he is such a happy little chappy ... he loves standing, singing himself to sleep, sucking his thumb, watching the sky, the dogs ... and they love him back, Steve’s bedside clock, his bath time, blowing bubbles, looking at the photos I have on the fridge, pulling funny faces and sticking his tongue out!
I feel sad that he is growing so fast ... I love tiny new borns, but he is leaning so many new things and its lovely seeing his little character develop
this weekend we are going away for a family party ... it will be the first time he will have been away from his daddy (me too in 2 years!!) but he will get to see all his auntie and uncles and cousins on my side and I am so looking forward to Christmas this year ... I know he will just love looking at the tree and lights ... it will be magical
happy half birthday billy-boy

I found this lovely rustic jug in the charity shop last month ... I l-o-v-e jugs and the shape of this one reminds me of one my mum has had since I was a little girl. it was £1.50
its so pretty with flowers from the garden
liking everything to be pretty, I really didn't like the car seat cover that came with the pram we got ... it was a stiff waterproof material ... which I know a lot would say is very practical, but sometimes prettyness has to come before practicality!! (trust me it does!)
so I figured I would have a go at making a new cover ... I took the old cover off and made a pattern from it (a little fiddly as I decided not to take it apart to do it)
I picked greens and browns as the pram is brown and I love the soft green (my mum pointed out that the green spotty is just like my kitchen table cloth ... yes it is! what can I say, I love it!)
I am really pleased how it turned out and even used his other car seat to make a pattern for the head rest as this one didn't have one.
and of course I had to make a little blanket for it! nice chunky wool so it grew quickly!

in the last week or so Billy-boy seems to get comfort from the muslin squares I use when breast feeding and mum said that now is the time to give him something if I want him to have a favourite soft toy or blanket to cuddle. I don't really mind what he has, but I thought it would be a nice thing to make him a knitted toy. So I took a simple teddy pattern and made it, but added ears and a tail, so it looks a bit like dilly-dog ... but being a boy, billy needs a boy toy so its digby-dog (dilly's dad was called digby)
having a baby means you suddenly need to carry around a lot more than the kitchen sink and your changing bag becomes your handbag ... this is fine, but sometimes you do pop somewhere and don't need to take everything or when you are out with your big-kitchen-sink-changing-bag but need to just take your purse/phone/sunglasses into a shop or something it is a pain not having a smaller bag. So over the last week I have made myself a little drawstring bag that will fit in my baby-changing-bag, but that I can grab out easily and have the essentials of what my 'pre-baby- handbag would have!
I made it up as I went along, but am really pleased with how it turned out ...
I lined it with a bit of calico so strengthen it ...
... I am now just thinking maybe cream wasn't the most practical colour!!
