Neal's Yard

My January seasonal tree (or branches) I wanted to fill with birds. The felt ones were the ones I made last year, the red wooden one I’ve had since I was a child and manages to live on these branches permanently! 😂 and the others are ones I kept out from the Christmas decorations.

I really want to sew some … I’m thinking fabric paint some, sew together and stuff! I also have these little tiny ceramic beads that I think I will make into little hanging decs. What do you think?

Do you have a seasonal tree? What do you put on it this time of year?

Are you doing the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch?

We’ve done it most years for the last 12 years. I really wish I had kept copies of our results though as we have some lovely birds and in recent years when we have been feeding them more than peanuts, we now have loads all the time! We’ve always had lots of blue tits and coal tits and a regular couple of woodpeckers, but sunflower hearts really helped bring in all the finches and they are just so beautiful to watch! I think the robins though are still my favourite!

Here are a few photos Steve took of some of our garden birds last week.

It is on next weekend, between 23rd and 25th January. Just sign up on the RSPB website and they will send you a pack. You just watch for an hour and mark down what you see!

Hello

I am an English girl married to a lovely Welsh man with a couple of little wild boys. We live in a cosy log cabin high up in the Welsh hills with or gentle wolf, crazy puppy and a wild cat that lives in the wood pile!
I love all crafts, reading, dreaming, selling pretty things and cups of tea. I am trying to live a more healthy, holistic and green life.
