I love my FITFLOP's

I bought them back in the beginning of the summer of 2009 so they have lasted really well as they are worn every day when warm enough. They are so comfortable and lovely for even if I have strayed into another pair of shoes (for a wedding or something) and have ended up with blisters, I can put on my FitFlops and even though my blisters and sore feet will have been throbbing before, I can wear the FitFlops straight away and my feet stop hurting.
I have just discovered that FitFlops do boots!! (how excited am I ?? very !! hehe)
The only problem is, they are £175 ... but I bet they are comfy ... don't they look gorgeous! ... They also do clog shoes which are also rather yummy ... they look so comfy too!
I feel some of my savings being spent soon! ;)

year 2. week 4
:: twisted ::

taken with my phone on the way to work ... and some more twisted ...

If you would like to join in and link up, please pop over to our FRIENDSHIP VIGNETTES blog ... next weeks theme is EXPRESSION

How are your leaf projects coming on ... what did you make?.

I have been busy doing lots of overtime at work this month, but I did make this autumn garland for blog ...

I hope you link up anything you have made or photos you have taken :)
So I have been having some weird symptoms recently ... the biggest being dizzyness ...... all the time ... its horrid ... especially when at the top of some very steep stairs at work with your arms full! ... some weird dreams ... not sleeping well ... and headaches. I put it all down to tiredness ... but you do start getting little worries ... is it a tumor? ... is there something wrong with me?

I had been feeling weird for about 3 weeks when I saw this tweet last week ...

... and I suddenly realised ......... I had run out of my anti-depressants last month. My doctor (who I have to say is really lovely) had given me 4 months repeat prescription and that run out over the summer ... I kept meaning to go back, but didn't ... so I hadn't taken any for a month now.

I had a quick look at side effect from coming of them suddenly and saw that I had most of the withdrawal symptoms:
  • dizziness
  • vertigo/light-headedness
  • nausea
  • fatigue
  • headache
  • insomnia
  • abdominal cramps
  • chills
  • increased dreaming
  • agitation
  • anxiety
The only ones I didn't have were abdominal cramps, agitation and anxiety.

It was actually a relief to know what was wrong with me.

I want to come off the anti-depressants anyway ... I was on them due to stress and my break-down not 'depression' as in feeling miserable. (I say miserable ... I am not making light of depression, I have spent years and years in the past seriously depressed and wanting to die, so I do know the difference) but I am not there now, and it was my 'body' that was depressed these last few years, totally exhausted and stressed, not my mind. But I am soooo much better now. I managed to start a new job a couple of months ago without feeling stressed in anyway or have any headaches, which when you think this time last year I couldn't leave the house without having a panic attack is a big thing.

Some people have said I should go back to my doctors, go back on the pills and then come off them in a controlled way ... but my natural instinct is to 'ride-it-out'. I have lived with these weird symptoms for a few weeks now and although the worst is the dizziness and light-headedness, which is horrid ... I really don't want to go back on them, just to come back off ... I am not sure how long it will take for them to get out of my system, but I hope it wont be long :/

I am not complaining, I am just relieved its nothing serious and all I can say is thank you twitter! haha
A new shop has opened in town called 'Apple Scrumping' ... it is really lovely ... full of old childrens books ... you know the Enid Blyton, ladybird fairy stories and books you had forgotten you read when you were little. They also have a few lovely antique goodies :)

I found this lovely ABC book of wild flowers ...

... the pictures are so lovely ...

do they still illustrate book like this?

I have a plan for this book ... but I kinda need another ... cryptic I know! but if you follow my craft blog you may see what I get up to with it! Anyway ... I got it for £2.50 ... not the cheapest I have bought a book for, but I love it :D

Please pop over to MissieLizzie's blog to see more great bargains and links to other MagpieMonday's.

Its beginning to get a bit chilly ... time for some woolies ...

 flower ~ wool ~ lamb ~ carpet ~ knitting ~ wool
I have a busy few weeks ahead of me ... lots of extra hours at work and visitors staying ... its all good, but it does mean that I will not get much 'making' done. I have been thinking of all the things I want to do this autumn when things calm down a bit ... so here is my list ...

  • do more work on my photography course
  • finish knitting my jumper ... I have not touched it since February
  • go through my beads and have a bit of a de-stash
  • get my loom warped up ready for some weaving this winter
  • talk myself into buying another filofax (one of the new Flex ones) cos you can never be too organized hehe
  • fill up my shops for Christmas
  • try smocking
  • get round to felt making ... only had the kit a year ... oops ;)
  • make a patchwork cushion cover for dilly-dogs wicker basket that is in the sun room
  • drink lots of tea .... oh I do that anyway ;)
  • finish at least one of my half done samplers
  • make some more tutorials
Fairly ambitious, I know ... but I figure I may get some done :)
What are your Autumn goals?
I have been having fun over the last few days ... so how do I have fun you ask? ... well I am a bit of a geek ... a bit sad ... I LOVE making graphics and websites ... and I have a few ... far too many for one girl, but we won't go into that now ;) hehe

So I have been working on a new site for by Great Grandfathers paintings.

I have been selling them since 2003, but last year I changed the name from At The Beach Collection to Bygone Beach Days .....

.... and then did nothing with it all year.

I have had a bit of a break this last year selling my bits and bobs (a well needed break), but am now back on the case ... and have made a shiny new site ... and I am loving the shine!

have a great weekend everyone :)

I took it with my phone on my way to Morrisons ;)
I didn't take any others this weeks, but I did use the theme WALL last year on our free choice week, and these are the ones I took then {{link}}

If you would like to join in and link up, please pop over to our FRIENDSHIP VIGNETTES blog ... next weeks theme is TWISTED

A little up-date on how I am getting on with my diet ..... *ahem*coughs-into-hand* ..... well I didn't re-join Slimming World this week (bad time of the month & as I always swell up and put on a few pounds I thought it was best to leave it this week) ... I have been pretty good though ... and got lots of exercise ... I do have one slip-up to confess though ... Saturday evening on the way home from work I called into the spar to get a few bits and got tempted at the till by the NEW Mars triple choc bar

I did confess to my diet priest today what I had done, and rather than give me 10 hail Mary's or even 10 sit ups, she just started drooling and asked what it was like. So to save any of you of you the temptation I thought I would just let you know what they are like so you don't have to eat one yourself. Well they are just divine ... a mouthful of pure chocolate heaven ... they feel softer to bite into than a normal Mars but are a total melt in the mouth ...... there you go, I have saved you all having to try one and ruin any diets you are on! ;)

I have a very busy time ahead, working 6 days a week for the next 3 weeks and I know I will be tired and will want to munch ... but I want it to be not so horrific when I do eventually go back to Slimming World so I am going to really really try to be good.

On a different note, my fringe continues to grow ... in my eyes! its at that very annoying stage ... ahh well, it will be worth it in the end.

Well I really should get to bed and catch up on my beauty sleep.

P.S. do you like my new banner? :)
Its getting a bit cold isnt it ... a bit chilly of an evening ...... time to start knitting some socks
... or knitting a cosy for your tree ...
... yep, you heard me right ...
... you could have on in your front garden for all your neighbors to admire ;)
so next time you see a bare tree ... just think it could look like this ...
I think this one has to be my favourite ... it truly is a work of art ...
and if you want to see how its done, just watch this ...

so are you doing anything slightly mad this Monday?
I have always fancied having a go at smocking and the other week our local book shop that has now closed down was selling off all its books really cheap and I found this great book on smocking for £2 ... its called Contemporary Smocking by Dorothea Hall.

I have been poring over it ever since ... when you think of smocking do you think of little girls dresses? I did, but this book has some great modern ideas ... like this Christmas decoration ...

... a quilted sampler ...

... a cushion cover ...

... and pillow ...

... as well as lots of other things ... I am looking forward to deciding what to make and starting :) ... I really have no idea what to make though.

Have you ever done any smocking? I would love to know how you got on and what you made.
Welcome to another 'Tips and Wrinkles' ... here I will pass on some useless and hopefully useful tips ...This is one for ladies .... and maybe well-endowed men!!

I suffer from chronic glandular fever, this means that among other things my glands are up most of the time, and some are constantly up (swollen) ... my arms, arm-pits, boobs and neck are my worst effected. It is something you just learn to live with and I am not writing this post to complain as compared to other illnesses, it is nothing really ... but ... having achy boobs is not nice. I have recently discovered a tip that helps and thought I would share it with you in case you have the same or similar problem.

I have always worn well supported bras (being a 36d means you can't have anything too flimsy) and always had under-wired, but I still get really painful achy boobs ... I have been to the doctor as obviously anything that could be cancer should be checked ... but it is just my glands ... they get worse when I am ovulating or around when my period is due ... and although livable with, walking around cupping or rubbing your boob when it hurts in not something we want to be seen doing! hehe
About 4 months ago I bought a padded bra as it was the the perfect match colour wise for a dress that I bought. I have never had a padded bra before, as not needed anything to make me bigger ;) but it was such a perfect match that I bought it ... well I wore it and had no achy-painful boobs ... I now only wear padded bras and virtually pain free during the day ... The extra padded support is obviously enough to help my 'beautifully enlarged glands!' (thats a quote from a Carry On film)

So I hope that if you have the same problem you will try a padded bra :)
