folksy friday :: TARTAN

I had a last minute, short but lovely trip to Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago ... one of my goals for this year (yey, something ticked off my list, so I am very happy!)

I had a lovely time and among other things really enjoyed going to a tartan mill, being a weaver myself it was amazing to see the looms ... they are huge and its lovely to see something that has been churning out such a part of Scottish life for so long.

As well a buying tartan kilts and traditional clothes, you could buy tartan by the meter ... being from an Irish clan not a Scottish one, we don't have a family tartan ... but when I saw a table FULL of scraps and cut offs of every colour of tartan, I was in my element ... I bought a pretty one (see picture below - top left) and can't wait to make some Christmas decorations with it ... watch this space.

so while I am in a tartan mood ....... this weeks FOLKSY FRIDAY Collection is Tartan.
