I would like to introduce you to ...

Evening Emma

I started handcraft with a Beatrix Potter cross stitch sampler to keep my hands busy during down-time between revision and lectures while studying at university. Cross stitching soon became one of my favourite past times and I enjoyed doing the little kits which came with the cross stitching magazines. However, as time passed I found these kits did not satisfy me, and sought something more in-keeping with my personal style.

My foray into video game cross stitching began when I was trying to find cards for my boyfriend's brothers' birthdays. I had thought about making them myself, but did not find the patterns readily available to be suitable for teenage boys. My boyfriend suggested I make my own pattern, and knew that one of his brothers was obsessed with Mega Man. The effectiveness of using a cross stitch as a pixel opened my eyes to the potential of combining such a new form of entertainment with the traditional handcrafts. I soon found the Sprite Stitch forum, where other people were doing the same thing, and found myself truly inspired.

Cross stitching is not the only form of handcraft I do, I also use Pixelhobby to recreate video game characters and hope to start using Hama beads soon, as well as crochet once my crocheting is improved. I am also going to start dyeing my own fabrics.

I recently quit my job as a call centre agent to develop my blog and Etsy store, as being creative makes me very happy and I enjoy creating things for other people.
